Introducing Melissa! Our new Senior School Success Program Manager

Melissa Fast

Hi Folio Members!

I recently joined Folio as the Senior School Success Program Manager. I will lead the Folio team that provides all of your implementation and school success support. I have marked more than 20 years of experience in education. During that two-decade career, I have served as an adjunct college instructor, classroom teacher of mathematics, state coordinator of mathematics, and worked in higher education administration.

I entered into the edtech space when I joined DreamBox Learning as a Senior Customer Success Manager. My favorite aspect of my role at DreamBox was collaborating with schools to achieve their goals around administrator and teacher engagement and I look forward to continuing this work with our Folio Members. Prior to this role I was the Mathematics Consultant at the Kansas State Department of Education for nearly a decade. In both roles I led professional learning opportunities for educators on a variety of topics such as: administrator and peer observations, creating a growth mindset school culture, and establishing SMART goals to drive educator and student success. In addition to my work with educators, I have provided professional learning to parents, local school boards, business and industry representatives, and legislators. I also served on the Kansas Association of Teachers of Mathematics board for several years and have presented and reviewed sessions for several national conferences.

I am excited to join the Folio team and help schools experience the value of professional growth and to build processes to support this. I love how Folio creates feedback loops between colleagues. The myFolio Collaborator role makes this process seamless and allows teachers to share feedback and resources to support each other. I believe the more we can get teachers to work together the more success our students will experience.

I strive to support educators with collaboration, and demonstrate the benefits of feedback loops. I am not content with the status quo of education, and encourage those whom I work with to continually stretch and improve.

I have a Bachelor of Science from Bethel College, 7-12 Professional Teaching License of Mathematics, and a Masters of Science from the University of Kansas.

I am very excited to partner with you on strengthening the professional growth process in your school! If you would like to connect please feel free to reach out to me directly at mfast@foliocollaborative.org.
